Cholesterol is not ALL bad!

Consider the following functions and as you read them remember there is a huge misunderstanding in its role and a concerted effort to lower this healing agent in our bodies:
*It is essential for determining which molecules can pass into the cell and which cannot (cell membrane permeability)
*It is essential for the production of sex hormones (androgens and estrogens)
*It is essential for the production of hormones released by the adrenal glands (cortisol, cortosone, aldosterone, and others)
*It aids in the production of file – how fascinating to know that the body recycles almost 95% of bile and because the cholesterol that helps manfacture bile is so valuable
*It converts sunshine to vitamin D
*It is important for the metabolism of fat soluble vitamins, including vitamins A, D, E, & K
*It insulates nerve fibers
